Screen Filters That Clean Themselves, DN50 to DN450

Every filter in this range cleans its own screen without taking the line out of service. A suction scanner traverses the screen element and draws the accumulated solids out to drain, triggered on differential pressure or on a timer, while filtered flow to the process continues. There is no bypass to build and no shutdown to schedule.

Every filter on this page cleans the same way: a suction scanner lifts the accumulated solids off the screen and out to drain while filtered flow continues. The operating principle is set out in full here — the cleaning cycle step by step, what triggers it, and what it costs in water and time.

All models are manufactured in Australia in stainless steel, from DN50 to DN450 and flows to 1,400 m³/h. Screen grade is selected to the water and to the downstream duty — the micron and mesh conversion guide sets out how the grades compare.

These filters run in irrigation, mining, food and beverage, cooling water and municipal supply. The application pages set out the duty each one has to handle.

Choosing a Drive Type

All three groups use the same suction-scanning cleaning principle and the same stainless steel screen elements. What differs is what powers the cleaning cycle, and how much line pressure it needs to work with.

FW Series — hydraulic diaphragm, DN50 to DN100

The cleaning cycle is driven by the line's own pressure through a diaphragm actuator, from 2 to 10 bar. No motor, no wiring, no external power supply — which is what makes this group the straightforward choice on remote and unpowered sites. Rinse cycles run 5 to 7 seconds.

FW Series — hydraulic piston, DN100 to DN450

The same hydraulic principle at higher capacity: a piston actuator handles the larger screen areas and flow rates to 1,400 m³/h, over the same 2 to 10 bar. Still no external power required. Rinse cycles run 15 to 17 seconds.

FED Series — electric drive, DN100 to DN450

An electric motor drives the scanner instead of line pressure, so the filter keeps cleaning where there is too little pressure to actuate a hydraulic drive — 0.5 to 16 bar as standard. It needs a power supply and a controller; in exchange, the cleaning cycle is independent of what the line is doing.

What the EX suffix means

An EX model carries the larger filter body of the next size up on the same connection size. FW150EX is a DN150 filter with 8,115 cm² of screen area against the standard FW150's 5,603 cm² — same pipe size, more screen. The extra area holds more solids between cleaning cycles, which suits water with a heavy or variable sediment load where a standard body would backwash more often than the site wants. Choose EX when the water is dirty for its pipe size; choose the standard body when it is not.

What the HP suffix means

On the FW Series the suffix is about the lid, not the screen. A standard FW body carries a GRP lid and is rated 2 to 10 bar; an FW HP body carries a stainless steel lid and is rated 2 to 16 bar, which is what gets specified when the duty sits above 10 bar. The FED Series is stainless steel throughout, lid included, so it starts at that level already — 0.5 to 16 bar as standard. Ratings to PN25 can be quoted on either series on request; they are not a stock item.
