Every Filtaworx automatic filter ships with a controller matched to its drive type and your site. Choose electric, hydraulic, no controller, or PLC integration.

The Right Control for Every Application

A Filtaworx automatic self-cleaning filter is a complete system, and the controller is an integral part of it, not an afterthought. The controller decides when and how the backwash cycle runs, monitoring differential pressure across the screen and cleaning the filter automatically.

Every filter ships with a controller matched to its drive type and installation. The right choice depends on the utilities available on site, your automation requirements, and the operating environment. Our team can recommend the best option for your application.

Controller Options

Electric (Primary)

The standard choice for most industrial and commercial installations. The electric controller monitors differential pressure across the screen continuously and starts the backwash cycle automatically when the pressure drop reaches the trigger threshold. It can also run timed backwash cycles as an extra safeguard in low-flow or variable-demand systems.

Electric controllers are standard on all FED electric-drive filters and available as an alternative drive option across the FW range. For multi-filter banks, Master and Slave electric controllers sequence backwash so only one unit cleans at a time.

Suitable for industrial process water, cooling circuits, municipal water, and food and beverage.

Hydraulic (Agriculture and Remote Sites)

The hydraulic controller powers the backwash cycle using line pressure alone, with no electricity required. It is the default controller for the FW series in standard configuration.

It is particularly well suited to agriculture, irrigation, bore-water systems, and remote sites where an electrical supply is unavailable or impractical. It responds automatically to differential pressure, with no external signal or operator intervention: the filter cleans itself and returns to service on its own.

No Controller (Customer Supply)

For installations where an existing process-control or building-management system will manage backwash initiation, filters can be supplied without a dedicated controller. The filter body, valve, and drive mechanism are supplied complete, and the customer's system provides the signal or actuation.

This option suits integration into larger automation systems, or where a customer-specified controller from a preferred supplier will be used.

PLC (On Request)

Filters can be integrated directly into a customer-supplied PLC system, with PLC-controlled operation replacing or supplementing the standard controller.

Available on request, this is typically used in large multi-filter installations, process plants, and facilities where all equipment is managed through a central control platform. In Master/Slave banks, slave filters commonly run under PLC control while the master carries the primary electric controller.

Choosing the Right Controller

Reliable Power Available

Choose the electric controller, the standard option for most industrial and commercial sites, with automatic differential-pressure and timed backwash and Master/Slave sequencing for filter banks.

No Power Available

Choose the hydraulic controller for agriculture, irrigation, bore-water, and remote sites. It runs on line pressure alone, with no electricity required.

Existing Control System

Supply the filter without a controller and let your existing process-control infrastructure initiate backwash. The body, valve, and drive are supplied complete.

Full Plant Integration

Specify PLC control (on request) to integrate the filter into a central control platform, ideal for large multi-filter installations and process plants.
