Nanyang Hanye Special Steel — Casting Spray Water
Nanyang, Henan, China
Overview
Blocked spray nozzles on NYHY's 3CC casting line traced back to a rusted-out, decade-old brush filter. A staged Filtaworx system — one FW250HP main filter plus eleven FW080HP zone filters — cut nozzle blockages dramatically.
The Challenge
Nanyang Hanye Special Steel (Hanye Special Steel), part of Henan Longcheng Group, runs an integrated long-process steelworks producing 4 million tonnes of medium and extra-thick plate a year.
On the 3CC continuous casting line, secondary cooling is delivered by banks of spray nozzles. The existing automatic brush filter was around ten years old and rusted through — it could no longer stop the particles that matter, nozzles kept blocking, and the spray zones lost cooling performance. Every blocked nozzle is a maintenance call on a live casting line.
The Solution
A staged filtration scheme: one Filtaworx FW250HP High Pressure filter on the main cooling water line, backed by eleven FW080HP units protecting individual spray zones across the line.
All twelve filters run fine screens with automatic backwash on differential pressure and time, at 13 bar system pressure. Bodies are 304 stainless steel with stainless cover lids and upgraded internals specified for the duty.
