Greenacres Turf

Greenacres Turf irrigates from bore-filled ponds through four pump stations. As part of an upgrade program, two of those stations moved to Filtaworx FW150 automatic self-cleaning filters.

Greenacres Turf runs four irrigation pump stations, each supplying several fields across the property through centre pivots and travelling irrigators.

The water comes from bore-filled ponds. Pond water carries suspended material, and at a turf farm every pump station feeds a large irrigated area, so whatever the filter lets through ends up in the irrigation equipment downstream.

Two of the existing filtration units were due for replacement. Whatever went in had to filter and clean itself automatically, and fit into the irrigation infrastructure already on the ground.

Each filter carries a 200 micron screen and a hydraulic rinse controller, and runs at about 4 bar. The hydraulic controller cleans the screen with the line's own water pressure, so no operator has to be at the pump station for it.

Both units were fitted into the existing pipework, protecting the centre pivots and travelling irrigators fed by each station.
